This guide is designed to provide transparent, user-friendly support to Pennsylvania residents seeking legal clearance to obtain, transport, and use medical marijuana (MMJ).

The goal is to allow patient visibility into what to expect as you follow the required steps outlined on the PA Department of Health MMJ website and begin to use your ID card to make MMJ purchases.

These tips are drawn from my experience and are current as of May 2022. Please email me if you have suggestions for updates as legal considerations evolve.

Items to have on hand before you begin

  • Proof of your PA residency (PA driver’s license or state-issued ID card)
  • Electronic or hard-copy records from a primary care provider or specialist that proves they have previously treated you for a qualifying health condition
  • Separate working email addresses for you and up to 2 caregivers (people who, once approved, can accompany you into a dispensary or pick up/transport MMJ on your behalf)
  • A credit or debit card with access to $250-300
